Mexico or bust!

I'm sitting at my parents house watching it rain and snow outside... I'm not impressed. I know that its February, but the weather has teased me so badly this week. Tuesday I sat outside on my stairs and read all day in the sunshine, with no jacket even! It was that warm! It was not fair that is snowed the next day... and that its now snowing... How does it go from 60 to 28 in 24 hours?! There is something very very messed up there. But what keeps me going through the cold icky weather? The fact that in 13 days I will be on my way to Mexico. It will be warm and wonderful and I fully intend to take many books with me to read on the cruise ship in the sunlight! I just have to figure out which books will be lucky enough to come. ;)

Steal Magnolia…

DSC_0002 copy

I absolutely adore these new bushes they have at the temple!!! They are stunning, and I would have never guessed that they would actually live and survive in Logan! But my aunt assures me that they will. Its a type of Tulip Magnolia. Enjoy!

Pictures…

I have noticed two things… One: I am really bad at blogging as of late (as of ever, actually) and Two: I haven’t taken many non-client pictures for a long time. So to work on both of these, I’m going to start at least posting a picture a day (disclaimer: if I actually do a real blog entry there may not be a new picture that day…) So here we go with picture #1.

I decided to take a walk today, funny thing is that I drove to my walk… But my walk had a different purpose than just exercisinDSC_0186 copyg and getting out of my apartment. I live pretty close to down town Logan, the historic part of Logan. It has so many interesting pieces and I feel they are often taken for granted. I happen to love interesting light designs and this one is a winner. Look at all that detail! How in the world can someone walk by this everyday and not notice it? Truly stunning..

View from my window…

DSC_0144 copy I have to say that I love the new apartment. A big part of the reason is that I get to this view most every night. Tonight was just a little bit better than the usual, because it had just finished raining when this stunning sunset showed up.  I absolutely LOVE it!

Oh, by the way, I moved. Not very far. Same complex, just different apartment. It faces West instead of East, which is how we were privileged with tonight’s picture. Also, I started a new job a few weeks ago at Procter and Gamble. They are opening a new plant in Bear River City, its a 40 minute commute. But I don’t mind it. The nice thing is that I drive passed my parents house to get to work, so I get to stop in and see them a few times a week. Its nice to see them more often, makes being away from them easier. Work is great, I love it and I’m learning so much.  I’m a plant technician, I get to do the maintenance on the machines and also work the product through the line. Its definitely a learning experience! I don’t think I studied this much all through college. The funny thing is that I have a degree in English… This is a job suited for an engineer… Haha! Definitely something my Michigan cousins would be better equipped at! Speaking of studying… my bed is calling. All this learning is wearing me out!

Basements and Neighbors… and dumb doors…

I think someone has put a curse on me… in the past two days I’ve been “’locked out” three times. These are the first instances of me being locked out in the last 4 months of living here! Someone is really happy about locking my door. The first two times I was able to crawl through the window, thank goodness for basement apartments! My neighbor, Wylie, got a good laugh watching me crawl in on one of these occasions. Today the window was locked as well… so that meant one thing… go find Trevor… Trevor is amazing at credit carding doors, its a beautiful talent and I’m glad that he has it! I was very thankful for it today. He came over and within a few seconds I was back in my apartment. Let this be a lesson to you kids… always have a good looking neighbor that can card your door!

Suicidal Fish

First… a little back story…

A few months ago I bought a fish. A beta fish. For the longest time I couldn’t figure out a name for him, so he has been “fish with no name” Well… Today he got a name..For anyone that has not read The Hunger Games, I’m sorry if this is a spoiler for you.

So today after church I decided to clean my fish bowl. I went about my normal routine of filling a mug with new water for him to swim in while I cleaned his home and placed him in it (I was really surprised that it took less than five minutes to catch him, more like 2 seconds this time) Normally he is a pretty laid back fish, so I thought I’d be fine leaving him in the mug while the home teachers came. (Which it was a really good visit today.) Well, they were here for an hour, so when they had left I figured the new water in the bowl would be ready for the fish to be put back in. Small problem… I went to the mug and there was no fish in it. I checked the bowl to see if I had put him back in with out thinking about it… no fish… so then I figure he’s jumped out. No good! He’s not on the counter anywhere… so that leaves—the floor! Crap! The fish was lying in the middle of the floor! I thought for sure he was dead. I tried to pick him up and he jumped… good sign! He’s a fighter! (and I found out that beta’s don’t really need to get their oxygen from the water like other fish) So I put him back in the bowl and he started swimming around like nothing had happened. This earned him a name…

Gale

If you have read The Hunger Games and Catching Fire you know that Gale is a strong person that wants to escape his environment and is willing to fight for change.(And he’s also tall dark and handsome…) Well, apparently my fish wanted to escape, and definitely is a fighter! So his name is Gale.

Surprise kiss…

No by the title I didn’t get a surprise kiss, but question to all of you. Have you ever wanted to just randomly go up to some really good looking guy and kiss them just to see what the response was? I’m not talking about a quick peck, I’m talking full on passionate kiss on the mouth?

I’m beginning to think this is the only way that I’m going to break the friendship barrier with a few guys that I know, because I can only handle sitting on the side lines watching them go after girl after girl, while I stand there not knowing what to do to get their attention. And any thing I do try gets pushed aside as something that “cute, shy, Meg the friend” did… So warning to all you guys out there.., if you keep it up, you may get a slight surprise one day!

Random Fact # 3

I can’t sleep with Band-Aids on my fingers…

Which is the reason that my finger hasn’t healed since I cut it, and also the reason I didn’t sleep last night. To all who may have encountered me today, I’m sorry if I was a wee bit moody… I blame it on the Band-Aids! (not on my fingers that like to play with the Band-Aids… even when they should be still and asleep).

Dooms Day

DUN DUN DUN… Yesterday, was the day. And now I can’t walk, because I’m now a member of a gym, and I have a “personal trainer” her name is Jenn, she’s really my friend that lives by me. She’s the one that got me to sign up for a gym, so I did. And I loved it, and I whined. Boy did I whine, I haven’t lifted weights since high school, so when Jenn wanted me to do squats a cringed and whined like a baby the whole time! “You want me to do how many squats?!”

There is talk of running a half marathon in August… That is a long time away, probably plenty of time to get ready, but I don’t know how game I am for that. We’ll have to see how that works out later.

So yours truly is now one of those people that goes to the gym, and I love it! So lets see how in shape I can get now…

Does that mean I have to give up my nerds and powdered doughnuts?!

New Baby!

Yes, that is correct I got a new toy! A new laptop to be exact! So pretty, too! 17.3”, 500 gb hard drive, 4 gb ram. So amazingly beautiful! Perfect for editing pictures. So excited I could pee my pants, by I won’t, and I’m not going to apologize for saying that because I’m in love! And it has another great feature called windows live writer…which means… dun dun dun! I can write my blog from my desktop with out opening the internet browser, so for the lazy Joe like me it makes it easier and I might actually post once in a while! Hahaha… nice thought, eh?!

That’ll Leave a Mark!

So , funny story… Yesterday I got in my car to take some sugar cookies to my aunt, Cindy. Well apparently I was having an uncoordinated moment where carrying a plate of cookies and opening the car door was too much to concentrate on all at once (I was chewing gum, maybe that was the real downfall…)  I saw myself falling before I actually fell and all that was going through my mind was “SAVE THE COOKIES!!!” So what did it do? I threw them in the driver’s seat and slid as gracefully as one can on to the ice totally bruising my bottom ( I think I need to work on adding some more cushion to that bottom of mine… maybe lipo my tummy and thighs to my underside) I immediately started laughing, and laughed about it for the rest of the night. I did save the cookies, and no one, to my knowledge, saw. So now I have a bruised bottom and woke up with a random bruise on the back of my hand… I’m just going to attribute that to the fall… Is it possibly to get whiplash from falling on your butt on the ice?!

Creativity

Being a creative being myself, I had to share this video. Everyone has the ability to do great things, it just depends on how we decide to use our talents. I love this video, made from a talk given by Dieter F. Uchdorf, its so inspiring. (He's also one of my most favorite speakers, he always has a powerful message.)Since I have forgotten how to imbed video on here, click this link- Creativity

I miss warmth...

Dear Snow,

We can be friends on three conditions...

1. Stop being cold. 2. Be an element that people can drive in, 35 is not a speed I enjoy driving on the freeway. 3. Don't make it so the doors on my car and gas tank are frozen shut... it makes life very hard to get home and get gas. Work on those, and then we'll review your improvement.

Warmest Regards,

Megan

Killer In Training.... KIT!

I just realized that I haven't posted anything about the new PUPPY!!! I don't know how I forgot to do such a thing! Well maybe it was more of watching the evil child so that she doesn't have an accident in the house... or bite off my toe! Yes she has a toe fettish. And as all small things are, she's cutest when she's sleeping. And she is a snuggler. Every night she falls asleep on someone's lap. She's a bit spoiled. And well... She's just plain stinking cute. All my good pictures are on my phone.
At the present moment Kit is two days shy of being 8 weeks old... and she is sassy! If you tell her not to do something she often retorts with a sound that is very similar to a little kid talking back. But we LOVE this puppy! This weeks newest thing with her is the laser pen. She chases the red dot all day long. I love it when she tries to bite at it and can't figure out why nothing is there. She's just cute! and I can't say that enough! She sounds like a lot of trouble, but apparently I love trouble then!

Random Fact #2

Well, kids, today's random fact is about how I eat candy... You can thank Dave at work for this one. I knew I did it, but this guy likes to tease me about how I eat. I'm pretty sure he would make fun of this.

Meg's Candy Eating Rule...

Candy that comes in small pieces that are of a variety of colors may not be eaten until it has been sorted. Yes, you heard that correctly. Sorted into colors... After that the rules depend on the mood of the day. Sometimes I eat all of one color (usually the color that has the least amount or if its sweethearts the green ones get eaten first because I don't like them), sometimes I eat them so that there are always equal amounts of each color...
I've pretty much always done this... I think there is a good chance that it was a learned thing from my mom, and also the small amount of OCD that runs in our family. I do slightly blame it on the movie "The Wedding Planner". Steve the doctor, when asked why he only eats the brown m&m's, replies," I figure they have less artificial flavoring because chocolate is already brown." That also helped prompt the sorting, brown m&m's usually get eaten first for that reason...

Happy Birthday Dad!

So I found this cake mold... my dad is a fireman... I thought it fit. So he got a fireman cake. He should be used to such things. I swear for every Birthday and Christmas since I can remember we have given him something that has to do with firefighting. This is mostly the reason that we could probably make a Christmas village with just firehouses. Why buy the rest of the village if the firehouse is different than the ones you already have? We have an extra "fire safe" village. And no, I looked already, Walmart doesn't have a firehouse in their village collection this year. I'll just have to take my business elsewhere for that item. (Shh... don't tell Walmar that.)

Dad got to have a pretty relaxing day after church, he watched tv in his room for a bit, while Mom made us steak and mushrooms. (Well she made it for him, but I love it too...) He got a 3 ton jack and a monetary donation from Grandma. And, another dinner at the restaurant of his choice! What a lucky man!

Random Facts

So I was talking to my friend, Juanita, at work and was telling her how I had an idea to post random facts about me. Then I might actually have something to blog about... so this will be

random fact #1... (picture taken by Brianna Jensen)

I love shoes. Love them. This is an area where I excel at being a girl. I may not always be the most girly girl around, but when it comes to shoes, I'm 100% girly. One of my favorite stores is DSW. I'm so happy that we have one in Layton now, only 45 minutes away from shoe bliss. The best part about shoes? They don't judge you. Seriously, no matter where I am in life, whether I'm having a crappy day or a stupendous day, my shoes accept me just the same. In particular I love high heels. I will be the first to admit that I'm not very talented in walking in them. But I love the sound of them. Walking on cement, tile, wood floors, there is just something about that sound that makes me feel important, like I can conquer the world. I guess you can say that shoes are my form of chocolate.

But on that note, the other half of my random fact involving shoes... I don't particularly like to wear shoes... I know that is a total contradiction to everything I just wrote, but its a bit true. As soon as I walk in the door my shoes are off. And all summer long I'm a flip flop girl. I hardly ever wear shoes in the summer. Its not that shoes aren't comfortable, its just that my feet might suffer from seasonal claustrophobia. It's a hard life balancing the tomboy and the girly girl.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today was my wonderful mom's birthday, and I'm sure that she is going to be so happy that I'm posting pictures... he he he! The ladies that I work with at Walmart did a beautiful job in the cake, and it tasted oh so yummy (for those of you who didn't know, buttercream frosting is one of my favorite foods- and yes it counts as a food). We love you Mom! Happy Birthday!

Jack-o-Lanterns?!

When asked about fall what do you think of? I think of two things, crunching leaves (one of my favorite sounds) and PUMPKINS! I love carving pumpkins. So when I was asked on a date to carve pumpkins, you bet I said yes! While they were all really cute pumpkins, mine and Wylie's was the best. Our redneck pumpkin turned out to look like Sloth from Goonies. I love the ears! And the teeth, Wylie came up with the teeth idea. The one next to it was a cute idea as well, the two people that made that pumpkin called it the "B" pumpkin because their names both started with B. It is cute! and the shapes are all B's. I never would have thought to do that!

And then we have the cute pig made by Darla and Darren, it turned out way cool! I never would have thought to do that one either! Guess I should stick to my photography skills for my creative outlet! It was the perfect way to get me in the fall mood, now I just want to go jump in the leaves!

If I lay here, If I just lay here, would you lay with me and just forget the world?

My most favorite band is hands down Snow Patrol, and I've been kicking myself for not going to their last two concerts here. So even though I had to drive to Provo I bucked up and bought the tickets and went. I have a really good concert buddy in Conly (believe it or not, he's really good to his little sister) and my friend Sarah, from work, and also my friend Callen came with us. I LOVED it! Sadly I knew every song, except for one which is new, its called Just Say Yes. And its so good, Snow Patrol has such a great sound that is uniquely theirs. And the lead singer is hilarious! A. They are from Ireland, so that makes me love them even more. and B. The dude is just random! During one of the slower songs people were waving their cellphones back and forth (because cellphones are the new lighters?), he looked out at the audience and said "You're cell phones look really funny... like little aliens... hello little aliens" and "We're very sorry to inform you that we have desecrated your tennis courts this morning. We are from Ireland, where it rains A LOT. Ever notice that there aren't any famous athletes from Northern Ireland? That is because it rains and we all stay indoors, and become musicians" I just thought it was funny that he said they desecrated the tennis courts with their playing. I have a bit of a crush on him now, so if any of you guys out there that might be reading this want to know how to get me to crush on you: 1. become Irish. 2. become a musician and form a band like Snow Patrol. 3. Make me laugh a lot. ... okay, step number three is the most attainable, I wont hold the rest against you. Normally I just see a band once, but I for sure will be seeing them again!

This one looks blurry, but this is what it really looked like. They were going for the shadow effect I guess. This is now the background on my phone!
Here's the snowflake. How could you have Snow Patrol without the snow flake? The last song they played is actually three songs they penned and combined into one. It has an animated video that goes along with it. Its called The Lightning Strike. I could only find a live version of it, but it was really cool, the perfect encore piece!
